Banryu Festival
The Banryu Festival, the opening ceremony for the Hida side of the Northern Alps in the Chubu Sangaku National Park, is an annual event that heralds the arrival of spring in this snow-covered region.
This mountain opening ceremony is held to commemorate the great achievements of "Banryu Shonin," who enshrined Buddhist statues on Mt. Yarigatake and Mt. Kasagatake and opened both mountains to the public, and also to pray for safety in the Northern Alps.
After the Shinto ritual concludes, local folk arts such as "Chicken Performance" and the lion dance "Henbetori" are offered as a dedication.
