Banryu Festival

The Banryu Festival, the annual opening ceremony for the Hida side of the Northern Alps in the Chubu Sangaku National Park, is a traditional event that heralds the arrival of spring in this snow-covered region. This festival honors the achievements of "Banryu Shonin," who opened the mountains of Yarigatake and Kasagatake by enshrining Buddhist statues on both peaks, and also includes prayers for safety in the Northern Alps. After the Shinto rituals, local folk performances such as "Torigei" (chicken dance) and the lion dance "Henbetori" are offered as a dedication.
