Fukuchi Fossil Museum

The Fukuchi Fossil Museum is a place where you can see many fossils of marine creatures that lived approximately 400 million years ago, long before the age of the dinosaurs, that were discovered in Fukuchi during the Early Devonian period of the Paleozoic era. The fossils were preserved and collected by Yamakoshi Satoru of Fukuchi since the 1960s, and the museum opened in 2004 on the second floor of the Fukuchi family home in Fukuchi Onsen's Folktale Village. Among the exhibits is an Ordovician ostracode fossil that is approximately 480 million years old; this fossil was only discovered in Fukuchi, Japan, making it a place where you can see extremely valuable materials.
