Hida Great Limestone Cave

Hida Great Limestone Cave is located on the way from Oku-Hida Onsenkyo to Takayama city. Known as the highest tourist cave in Japan, the cave is located at an altitude of 900m, with an average temperature of about 12°C inside, making it the perfect spot to escape the heat in midsummer. Exploring the 800m-long cave allows you to experience the mystical stalactites and wonders of nature. In winter, a fantastical "ice valley" appears, making it a fascinating place that can be enjoyed all year round. The Ohashi Collection Museum is also located on the premises. This popular Takayama tourist spot is also home to the legend of Hida's hero, "Ryoumen Sukuna."
